If you care at all about the future of America, you need to pay very close attention to what I’m about to tell you. Because the attempted assassination of Donald Trump this past weekend has exposed some deeply disturbing truths that every citizen needs to be aware of.
In his excellent breakdown of the incident, my colleague James Rickards asks the hard questions that the mainstream media seems afraid to even mention:
Why on Earth was the shooter’s position not occupied by the Secret Service? It’s an obvious vantage point and potential sniper nest. Even an amateur knows that, let alone the Secret Service. This was a security failure of the utmost magnitude that can’t be overstated. It was that bad.

He’s absolutely right. This represents a massive failure on the part of those tasked with protecting the former President. As Rickards points out, even after witnesses warned police and Secret Service that they saw the shooter climbing to his position “with minutes to spare… Nothing was done.”
Why not? That’s the question every American should be demanding an answer to. Lives were lost and others changed forever because of this inexcusable lapse in security protocol.
But it gets worse. Rickards also highlights the amateurish and frankly embarrassing conduct of some of the Secret Service agents on the scene:
Meanwhile, some of the Secret Service detail closest to Trump acted heroically and shielded his body with their own while the area was being secured. But not all. In particular, three female Secret Service officers with Trump looked like the Keystone Cops.
One cowered behind the podium for cover instead of putting her body in harm’s way as required. One officer was so short that Trump towered over her, which means she offered no body protection at all. Donald Trump is 6’3″. Officers protecting him should be 6’4″ or taller.

Is this really what we’ve come to expect from the once legendary Secret Service? Agents cowering behind podiums and waving guns around aimlessly while a former President is under fire?
These revelations should outrage and terrify every American, regardless of political affiliation. If this is the level of protection we provide for our nation’s leaders, then the very foundations of our democracy are at risk.
There must be a full and transparent investigation into this incident. Those responsible for these egregious failures must be held accountable. And immediate steps must be taken to overhaul and fortify the Secret Service to ensure that a travesty like this never happens again.
As Rickards ominously notes in his article, we may have come within mere centimeters of a full-blown civil war this weekend. Let that sink in.
